Kat Lilith
The Healing Heart founder and owner; HHP (Holistic Health Practitioner); Reiki Master; Zen Shiatsu Acupressurist; Clairvoyant; grounded woo-woo connoisseur; clown. Nationally Certified massage therapist; member, American Masssage Therapy Association.
Kat has been practicing massage professionally since 1992 and founded The Healing Heart in 1998 as a “nuts and bolts” massage practice. Her experiences with her clients over the years lead her to explore increasingly subtle energy and healing techniques. The scope of her practice expanded considerably and she now calls upon a variety of healing arts and wisdom methods to create a sacred and safe environment for transformational healing.
Kat has consistently worked with world-renowned athletes, including members of Cirque du Soleil. She has over 1,300 hours training in massage, acupressure, and related topics. She graduated as Valedictorian from The Heartwood Institute’s Holistic Health Practitioner program, and from Circus Centers’ Clown Conservatory, is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and is nationally certified by the National Certification board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
What clients have said about Kat’s work:
“The quality of healing is so high, the range of skills so complete, and insights so clear and present, I simply can't imagine a more thorough healing arts practice. Not only do I benefit on a physical level from Kat's knowledge of Chinese medicine, Shiatsu and Reiki; my whole being receives her attention. She welcomes my full emotional self and holds compassionate space for release. We are also able to incorporate my own personal spiritual proclivities into my sessions. Kat Lilith is a natural and learned healer. I trust her implicitly.”
“Kat possesses professional expertise, intellectual awareness, reliability and consistency, and an undivided presence of skill and spirit. Kat is refreshing, vibrant, and undeniably a Healer in the truest sense of the word. I wholeheartedly encourage you to allow Kat to richly bless you!”
“Kat rocks. Drop everything and go to her. She is a genius.”
“Just when I had almost lost hope, I was given a gift certificate to the Healing Heart and embarked upon a journey that would continue for many years. I have a very physically strenuous career and Kat addresses all of my issues to keep me working and able to support my family. She worked with me through my pregnancy and is always there when I need a 'reality check.' I have been to many, many different massage therapists who offer a wide variety of treatments and have found my 'home' with Kat. Simply put, you won't find a more compassionate, caring and loving soul out there. She helps keep my body in check and puts me back into line when I get mentally off balance.”
“I lost two pounds on the table with Kat! I weighed myself before
tucking under the sheets of her massage table. During the session I
felt an incredible amount of energy, which I identified as fear, move from my lower back and kidney area. After the session I felt lighter and decided to weigh myself. Sure enough, I weighed two pounds less than I did an hour before. Since matter is simply dense energy, this makes sense to me. The fear energy was released and no longer needed to be carried as mass. Profound!”
Licensing
As you may or may not know, the licensing requirements for massage therapists vary from state to state, and in California licensing and education requirements are set at the city ordinance level. In Petaluma, there is NO EDUCATIONAL requirement at all to practice massage therapy. Many practitioners choose to use the term CMT (presumably for certified massage therapist) but there is no regulated certification process in California. Consequently, while there are many massage therapists, the scope of practice, skill, knowledge, and competency vary dramatically. It is important for the consumer to be pro-active and make discerning choices.
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is an independent, private, nonprofit organization formed to set high standards of ethical and professional practice through a recognized, credible credentialing program. NCBTMB also promotes the worth of National Certification to the public and the profession, maintains the quality of the National Certification Program, and requires continuing education to keep practitioners current with advances in the field. NCBTMB certifies massage therapists and bodyworkers on behalf of the profession for the benefit of consumers, employers and practitioners. The national exam requires a minimum of 500 hours training to take the test as well as a proficiency exam and continuing education requirements. This is a great help in establishing professionalism and consistency in the massage and healing arts industry.
